The sequel buzz around Dude has once again grabbed the attention of movie lovers after director Keerthiswaran revealed that discussions for Dude 2 are underway. Starring Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju, the youthful romantic drama emerged as a commercial success in both Tamil and Telugu despite receiving mixed reviews from a section of the audience.
Director Keerthiswaran recently disclosed that he shared a fresh idea with Pradeep, and the actor reportedly loved the concept. According to the director, the new storyline carries the same emotional spirit as Dude and could serve as a continuation of the original narrative if everything falls into place.
The announcement has sparked varied reactions across social media. While fans of the film are excited to see the world of Dude return to the big screen, others feel that not every successful movie requires a sequel. Some netizens argue that the first film worked best as a standalone story and worry that extending it into a franchise could dilute its impact.
Another major reason behind the growing excitement is the possibility of music composer Sai Abhyankkar returning for the sequel. His soundtrack played a significant role in the popularity of the first film, with several songs becoming chartbusters among youth audiences. As a result, many fans are already eager to see what musical surprises he could bring to Dude 2.
Although the project is still in its early development stage and an official green signal is yet to be announced, the director’s latest comments have successfully reignited discussions around it. He said, “Recently when I was taking with Pradeep Ranganathan, I’ve throwed an Idea and he liked it very much. That Idea has a spirit of Dude. If it works out, then we can make it as dude 2 – Continuation of Dude.”
