Sithara Entertainments is making one of its biggest distribution bets with Jailer 2. Producer Naga Vamsi has acquired only the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana theatrical rights of Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited sequel for ₹45 crore (+GST), making it one of the biggest regional distribution deals in recent times.
The move comes at a crucial stage for Sithara, which is looking to bounce back strongly after facing a series of setbacks with a few recent releases. The timing makes the strategy even more interesting. On October 9, Sithara is set to release Aadarsha Kutumbam in Telugu, and within just a week, the banner will be bringing the massive pan-India spectacle Jailer 2 to theatres across AP and Telangana.
Backing two completely different films within such a short span highlights the banner’s confidence in its festive release lineup and its aggressive theatrical plans. With Rajinikanth returning as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, Jailer 2 has already generated huge anticipation across South India. By securing the AP and Telangana rights for a premium price, Naga Vamsi is placing a strong bet on the film’s box-office potential.
After a challenging run at the box office in recent months, Sithara is now aiming for a solid comeback, with Aadarsha Kutumbam opening the festive season and Jailer 2 expected to be the banner’s next major theatrical event in Telugu states.
