Sun Pictures is known for maintaining a low profile during the promotional campaigns of its films, but the production house following the same strategy for a big-budget project like Jailer 2 has reportedly surprised Rajinikanth’s fans. Unlike many major releases, the sequel has no audio launch planned, and there has been relatively little promotional activity surrounding Anirudh Ravichander’s music.

Promotions for the Telugu and Hindi versions have also been limited, with the team reportedly relying on a single group interview featuring members of the film’s team. Meanwhile, the Telugu pre-release event scheduled for Monday has been postponed, although an interaction with the Telugu media is expected before the film’s theatrical release. The promotional approach has also drawn attention amid discussions about the film’s advance bookings and market reach.

In Bollywood, Jailer 2 is reportedly releasing only in single-screen theatres, with multiplex screenings unavailable due to an OTT-related agreement. Overseas bookings initially showed encouraging momentum but have subsequently slowed down in some markets. Although the sequel is reportedly registering stronger advance sales than Vijay Deverakonda’s Ranabaali, trade discussions suggest that its current numbers remain below those achieved by the first Jailer.

In addition, bookings have reportedly not opened yet in certain North American regions, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the film’s overseas performance. With promotional activity remaining relatively subdued and audience buzz seemingly below expectations, there is speculation that the lack of a stronger campaign may be affecting advance ticket sales.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 stars Superstar Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, alongside Mohanlal as Mathew and Shiva Rajkumar as Narasimha. The film also features Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakraborty, S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Ramya Krishnan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Jatin Sarna, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil and VTV Ganesh in pivotal roles, while Nora Fatehi and Shamna Kasim are reported to appear in special roles. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner.
