Not as effective as the first part, but still watchable for the core spy drama and Karthi.
Sardar had a good balance of spy drama, emotion and well-earned mass moments. Sardar 2, however, is overloaded with information but gives you hardly any breathing space. It just keeps running without letting the emotions or tension properly sink in.
Karthi does his best in the double role, but Bose gets most of the cheers without the screenplay giving him enough space to truly shine. The lengthy runtime and choppy editing make the experience even more tiring.
The biggest disappointment is the AI visuals. From the pre-interval to the climax, obvious AI-generated aerial shots, action frames, tunnel sequences and other visuals keep appearing and take you out of the experience.
Ashika Ranganath gets good scope, while Malavika Mohanan gets a strong character. Sj Suryah, however, continues with the same loud performance style we have seen in his recent films.
Sam CS BGM is loud throughout, but volume doesn’t always translate into elevation. The score keeps screaming when it should have been creating impact.
Despite all these issues, Sardar2 remains a passable watch because PS Mithran’s information-driven core idea still has enough intrigue to keep you engaged.
