The announcement of Dharman, Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited 173rd film, has sent expectations soaring among fans. Directed by Ashwath Marimuthu and produced by Kamal Haasan under Raaj Kamal Films International, the film is being positioned as a grand commercial entertainer with the tagline “Dharmame Vellum.”

Industry reports suggest that Rajinikanth will be seen in a full-fledged fun, stylish and swag-filled avatar, a space that has historically brought out the very best of the Superstar. The recently unveiled first-look poster further amplified excitement, hinting at a powerful mass character that combines charisma, intensity and larger-than-life screen presence.

Adding to the excitement is a stellar cast led by Simran as the female lead, a pairing that instantly evokes memories of their beloved chemistry in Petta. Actress Raashi Khanna is also expected to play a significant role, giving the film additional star power.

Speaking about the film’s tone, Ashwath Marimuthu has reportedly described it as existing in the zone of Padayappa and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, a combination that suggests a blend of family emotions, mass appeal, stylish action, humour and engaging drama. With Rajinikanth returning to an entertaining and crowd-pleasing space, fans are expecting a character tailor-made for celebrations in theatres.

Music is another major attraction, with Anirudh Ravichander onboard to compose the soundtrack. Buzz surrounding the project indicates an album featuring eight songs, including a sensational introductory number designed to elevate the Superstar’s entry to iconic levels.The film is also expected to feature a special cameo by Kamal Haasan, making the collaboration even more historic for Tamil cinema. Officially, the film will enter production from tomorrow and remains one of the biggest projects currently in development. The makers aiming for Sankranthi 2027 release.
