Megastar Chiranjeevi’s fantasy epic Vishwambhara began production in November 2023, but nearly three years later, the film is still awaiting a confirmed theatrical release date. Directed by Mallidi Vassishta, who won acclaim with Bimbisara, the big-budget fantasy adventure has remained in release limbo despite multiple announcements and schedule changes. Reports indicate that extensive VFX work and post-production have been among the major reasons behind the repeated delays.
Vishwambhara features an ensemble cast led by Chiranjeevi, alongside Trisha Krishnan, Ashika Ranganath, Kunal Kapoor, Ramya Pasupuleti, Esha Chawla, and several other prominent actors. The film is produced by UV Creations, with music composed by M.M. Keeravaani, cinematography by Chota K. Naidu, and lavish visual effects playing a crucial role in bringing its fantasy world to life.
The latest industry buzz suggests that the film’s OTT deal has been one of the key hurdles delaying the release, and a theatrical date may be announced only after the streaming rights are finalized. Reports also indicate that the makers are considering a festive release window, with Sankranti emerging as one of the possibilities once everything falls into place. For a film carrying Chiranjeevi’s star power, the prolonged wait has become one of Tollywood’s most talked-about release delays.
