Speculation is growing in film circles that acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is keen on directing a big-budget Telugu film with a top Tollywood star. Reports suggest Bhansali recently met Superstar Mahesh Babu and narrated a story, adding fresh fuel to the ongoing buzz. The director had previously held discussions with stars like Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, and Ram Charan as well.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated filmmakers, known for visually grand blockbusters such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Black, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, and Gangubai Kathiawadi. He also made a successful foray into OTT with the lavish Netflix series Heeramandi. At present, Bhansali is busy directing his ambitious film Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, which is currently in production.
However, Mahesh Babu is currently fully occupied with S.S. Rajamouli’s much-awaited pan-India project Varanasi. Industry reports indicate that the superstar is unlikely to commit to another film until Rajamouli’s project is completed. As a result, whether the much-talked-about Bhansali-Mahesh Babu collaboration materializes remains to be seen.
