Even before its release, Idupu Kayitham has become one of the most talked-about Telugu films, thanks to its intriguing title. Starring Priyadarshi and Nagadurga in the lead roles, the Telangana-based drama is produced by Bunny Vas and presented by director Sukumar.
The title alone has sparked widespread discussion across social media, with Telugu audiences from both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh actively debating its meaning and relevance. While some users have trolled the title and questioned its regional identity, many others have appreciated the makers for choosing a culturally rooted and distinctive name.
The title controversy has gone political with Kalvakuntla Kavitha talking about it. The TRS leader said, “Some people still don’t understand what Idupu Kayitham (a divorce document/divorce) means. Go ask film actor Pawan Kalyan, he’ll explain its meaning to you.” The related clip has gone viral and getting strong reactions from Pawan Kalyan fans.
Responding to the online debate, producer Bunny Vas clarified that the title was chosen purely based on the story and its setting. He stated that his focus has always been on making a good film rather than getting distracted by controversies.
According to him, whether audiences are from Andhra Pradesh or Telangana, they will embrace the film if the content is strong enough. He emphasized that delivering a quality film remains his primary responsibility.
Bunny Vas also expressed confidence that meaningful storytelling would ultimately overshadow any controversy surrounding the title. He said the film’s narrative is universal despite its regional backdrop and is designed to connect with audiences everywhere.
