Hit Machine Anil Ravipudi appears to be taking a major creative leap into animation. The filmmaker, who has built an impressive success streak with films such as F2, Sarileru Neekevvaru, F3, Bhagavanth Kesari, Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, is reportedly planning a large-scale animated film backed by KVN Productions.

The project is said to be rooted in the Ramayana, bringing together key episodes from the epic. Interestingly, Ravipudi is reportedly recording not just the script and dialogues but also his own performance of each scene and the expressions he wants from every character, allowing the animators to use those recordings as a reference while designing the sequences.

The move comes at an interesting time for Indian animation, particularly mythology-based storytelling. The growing response to projects such as Mahavatar Narasimha has encouraged filmmakers and studios to look at animation as a serious cinematic medium rather than something meant only for children.

Filmmakers are increasingly recognising that animation can visualise gods, mythical worlds, battles and larger-than-life sequences in ways that can be difficult to achieve convincingly in live action. For Ravipudi, this project could be the next evolution after a remarkable commercial run.
