The highly anticipated Raaka, starring Icon Star Allu Arjun and directed by Atlee, is reportedly being considered either as a single film or as a two-part franchise. According to recent reports, the makers are currently evaluating both options.
If the story is released as one standalone film, Raaka is expected to arrive in theatres in 2028, while a two-part strategy could see the first instalment release in December 2027. An official decision on the release format is yet to be announced.
The film features Allu Arjun in the lead, with Deepika Padukone also part of the cast. Reports have also linked Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna to the project, with the story reportedly spanning historical and contemporary timelines.
Raaka is directed by Atlee and produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, while Sai Abhyankkar is composing the music. The film is being mounted on a large scale with extensive VFX and motion-capture work.
Raaka recently achieved a major milestone by entering the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Motion-Captured in Real-Time,” with 37 performers captured simultaneously.
With the team currently weighing the single-film and two-part options, further clarity on the release strategy is awaited. Allu Arjun has also asked fans to remain patient, saying the team is taking time to deliver the best possible experience.
