Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara was initially set to release this Sankranti but was delayed due to Game Changer. It was then expected to release in the summer, with May 9 being the tentative date. However, recent reports suggest that the film has missed its summer release window and may now release on August 22, coinciding with Chiranjeevi’s birthday.
The film’s VFX work is pending and the team is reworking in the supervision of young director Nag Ashwin. It is taking lot of time to get good output as there are more than 50% film will be VFX. On the other side, Vishwambhara is yet to lock its OTT deal and this is complicating its release Date plans even as many others occupancy fancy and holiday dates. Negotiations still ongoing with Zee after netflix’s flip-flops.
This film marks the collaboration between Chiranjeevi and director Vassista of Bimbisara fame, with Trisha playing the lead role. It is produced by UV Creations. A teaser was released earlier with the intention of a Sankranti release, but it received a lukewarm reception due to the visuals not being well-received. This caused expectations for the film to significantly drop. Now, the team is finalizing the Vishwambhara deals, one by one. The Hindi dubbing rights have been sold for a good price, and the OTT deal is almost complete. However, the team has not yet made a final decision on the release.
While the summer release is no longer possible, the team is hopeful that the film will hit theaters on August 22, which would be a fitting occasion for Chiranjeevi’s birthday. This release could stir additional excitement among his fans. With the shooting nearly complete, except for two songs, the team has some breathing room to refine the VFX during this gap. It is known that director Anil Ravipudi is working on a script for Chiranjeevi. The story is expected to be a family entertainer, similar to Ravipudi’s Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. The film is slated for a Sankranthi 2026 release.
