Young Telugu actor Sundeep Kishan is gearing up to headline the political action drama Power Peta, directed by Krishna Chaitanya. The film, which was earlier planned as a trilogy with another lead and had been shelved for some time, has now been restructured into a single-part project with Sundeep in the male lead.
Reports suggest that Tollywood actress Ritika Nayak is likely to be cast as the female lead opposite him, though an official announcement is still pending. The story is said to follow the journey of an ordinary man who rises to become a powerful leader, blending social themes with action elements.
The change in casting came after actor Vishwak Sen, who was previously linked to the project, moved away from Power Peta following the lackluster performance of his recent film Gangs of Godavari. That film, directed by Krishna Chaitanya as well, received mixed to disappointing responses at the box-office and with critics, which may have influenced his exit from the new project.
With Sundeep now taking the lead, the team appears focused on using Power Peta as a strong comeback platform for the actor.
