No Relief for Jana Nayagan in Court: Only 2 Options?

Thalapathy Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, is currently fighting a legal battle with the censor board ahead of its grand release. After missing the crucial Pongal window, it is now widely believed that the film will see a theatrical release only after the election process concludes.

Industry tracking suggests two possible paths forward for the makers. One option is for the production house to withdraw the case, comply with CBFC guidelines, approach the Revising Committee, obtain certification swiftly, and aim for a February release.

According to the latest speculations, the producers have trimmed around 20 minutes from the film, including the objectionable scenes and dialogues, and resubmitted it to the regional censor board. The uncut version is expected to stream on OTT platforms once the film’s theatrical run ends.

However, the makers are yet to issue an official statement regarding this. Some industry sources claim that this information is fake news. For now, it’s a wait-and-watch situation to see what turns out to be true.

Jana Nayagan features Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol and others in key roles. The film is produced by Venkata Narayana and directed by a leading filmmaker H Vinoth with music composed by a rockstar Anirudh Ravichander.
