Most Talked Marco arriving to OTT on?

Unni Mukundan’s blockbuster action thriller Marco is streaming in Telugu on Aha OTT. The film, which glorifies the violence, created a sensation in all the languages it was released in. The film was a blockbuster theatrically. But it is failing to get the same reception after its OTT release.

Many films in Indian cinema have portrayed violence, but there’s a difference between showing violence systematically and portraying it in a more natural manner. While many films have done both and entertained audiences, it’s important for violence to be presented reasonably. When it’s unnecessarily embedded into the narrative, however, criticism from the audience becomes inevitable.

A Hindi film titled Kill created a sensation across India by portraying violence in a natural and meaningful way, which led audiences to call it one of the best violence-driven films in Indian cinema. However, after Kill, another movie, Marco, from Malayalam cinema, was released. Despite featuring violence, it was criticized for lacking purpose.

The central issue lies in the portrayal of the hero, who, after his family is killed by villains, does nothing at first but then suddenly takes a bath, gets ready, and sets out to seek revenge. This raised the question of why the film received so much hype upon its release on OTT. Audiences, after watching it on OTT, pointed out these loopholes, while the positive response it had received in theaters was not echoed later.
