Kollywood actor Suriya, who faced back-to-back flops, is currently busy with the gangster thriller Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, which is releasing on May 1. The actor has a massive fan base in Telugu despite flops, but he lost his market here. Telugu fans always wanted Suriya to make a Telugu film. Now, he is reportedly set to headline his first direct Telugu film under the direction of Venky Atluri.
Suriya has previously played a key role in Ram Gopal Varma’s Raktha Charitra 2. Now, he is ready to impress his Telugu fans with a direct Telugu project. Director Venky Atluri, known for films such as SIR and Lucky Baskhar, has reportedly finalised the project with Suriya that will explore the hardships behind getting the first Maruti car.
The film is set to be produced by Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments banner, with filming expected to begin in May. Suriya is expected to commence work on this project as soon as he completes his current film with RJ Balaji. The latest buzz in film circles reveals that Suriya will be romancing the Mr. Bachchan actress Bhagyashri Borse in his debut Telugu movie.
GV Prakash Kumar will compose the music. The technical crew from Lucky Baskhar is set to return for this venture. Reports suggest the film’s story is based on the invention of an automobile engine. In addition, reports suggest that Suriya is in early discussions with director Chandoo Mondeti, who recently made the blockbuster Thandel, for another Telugu film, which is expected to be produced by Allu Aravind’s Geetha Arts.
